A fluid leak coming from your car may or may not be caused by a serious problem. It is important for you to find the source of the leak before you can assess whether it is serious. The most common fluids that leak from a vehicle are motor oil, coolant, water, transmission fluid, gear oil and power steering fluid.
If motor oil is leaking, then you may notice a puddle that is in dark brown or light Amber in color. You may not always be able to tell whether the leak is coming from. The best thing that you can do to avoid an oil leak is to check the dipstick on a regular basis.
A transmission fluid leak will be pink or red in color. Many people don't realize that they have a transmission leak until their car won't start.
