Our Mitchell Volkswagen team has a goal to help motorists in Canton, CT optimizes safety, and if you have a little one, using a LATCH system can help you easily and correctly position your child's seat.

The Insurance for Highway Safety evaluates two LATCH positions in the second row of seats. There are four ratings: good, acceptable, marginal, and poor. The IIHS can issue good+ ratings for vehicles that demonstrate specific criteria.

In order to receive a good rating, both LATCH positions must meet the three lower anchor criteria and two tether anchor criteria. If a vehicle has a tether router, then a tether router tool must come with the router to earn a good rating. If a vehicle has a third full LATCH position that meets specified criteria, it will receive a good+ rating. Three-row vehicles with acceptable anchors in all seating positions that meet the criteria will get a good+ rating.
