Traction and Handling

Here's an overview of the available traction and handling systems for the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack.
  • 4MOTION® All-Wheel Drive: It switches torque between the front and rear axles, depending on the driving conditions.
  • Wheel-mounted paddle shifters: They allow you to upshift or downshift without removing your hands from the wheel.
  • The Golf Alltrack's turning curcle is 2.3 feet tighter than the Allroad's (35.8 feet vs 38.1 feet).
The Alltrack has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Allroad (6.9 vs 6.5 inches), allowing the Gold Alltrack to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Safety

The Alltrack's Intelligent Crash Response System implements important safety precautions after an accident.  The system automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries.

The Golf Alltrack has standard Car-Net, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Allroad doesn't offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you're involved in an accident and you're incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates' 2016 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Volkswagen vehicles are better in initial quality than Subaru vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Volkswagen 13th in initial quality, above the industry average. Audi is ranked 14th, below the industry average.
